National LGBT Group endorses Lis Kenneth Regula for auditor
KENT — Lis Kenneth Regula, Democratic nominee for Portage County auditor, was endorsed by Victory Fund on Tuesday, Aug. 21. Victory Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides campaign, fundraising and communications support to LGBT candidates for office.
“Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Lis Kenneth Regula for Portage County auditor,” said Victory Fund President and CEO, Annise Parker. “Lis’ plan to modernize Portage County makes him the best candidate for auditor. When he wins in November, Lis will stand as a vital LGBT voice and a diligent leader for all of Portage County.”
Regula’s campaign focuses on updating county systems to help taxpayers save money. By making interactions between county residents and the auditor’s office more efficient, Regula plans to improve public services while reducing costs.
If his campaign is successful, Regula will be the first transgender elected official in Ohio.
“Being LGBT doesn’t make anyone more or less qualified,” Regula said. “I’m just a guy who happens to be trans, and I’m running because I’ve got ideas about how to successfully manage county finances.”
Regula currently teaches biology at University of Akron. He also runs Edible Kent, a nonprofit which plants edible gardens for public use. For more information about Regula and his campaign, log on to regulaforportageauditor.com.
